Most “standard” mats are 72" × 26" and 4–6mm thick.
In reality, they hold you back:
Compromised form — Hands, heels, or head slide off; you shorten stances and tweak angles.
Thin padding — Not enough cushion creates painful pressure points (wrists, knees, spine).
Hygiene — Contact with dusty/dirty floors, especially face-down work.
Not enough space — You’re crowded and can’t move freely or fully extend on the smaller surface area.
Slower progress — Without space and comfort, it’s harder to improve and perfect your poses.
Your mat should support proper alignment—not force workarounds.
