Most āstandardā mats are 72" Ć 26" and 4ā6mm thick.
In reality, they hold you back:
Compromised form ā Hands, heels, or head slide off; you shorten stances and tweak angles.
Thin padding ā Not enough cushion creates painful pressure points (wrists, knees, spine).
Hygiene ā Contact with dusty/dirty floors, especially face-down work.
Not enough space ā Youāre crowded and canāt move freely or fully extend on the smaller surface area.
Slower progress ā Without space and comfort, itās harder to improve and perfect your poses.
Your mat should support proper alignmentānot force workarounds.
